Staff Choices

The staff of CRJAFUKUOKA picks up the recommended songs of last month!

1. "Dahlia"/ adieu

The golden tag team of Nariakira Kobukuro writing lyrics and yaffle producing. Mr. Kobukuro's use of Japanese, slow drumming, and clear voice all come together in this song. (Ryo)

2. "dancing in the kitchen"/ LANY

A new song by LANY, a very popular synth-pop band from LA! LANY's music is beautiful and danceable, yet somehow sad, and I love it! LANY's songs are beautiful and danceable, yet somehow sad, and I love them! The new single is also very LANY-like, and I was hooked right away ✨(Dafumi)

3. "madonna" / nape's

Madonna" from the new Nape's album is a perfect example of the urban, lo-fi sound that Nape's has been creating since their first album. The guitar solo, however, has a muddy rock feel to it, giving it a perfect balance. I don't think it's necessary for Napes to be a band these days, but I think they need to be a band in order to create this good, unconventional sound. (Yua)

4. "See Off" / evening cinema

This song reminds me of city pop from the 70s and 80s!

I've been into city pop of this era lately, and I was surprised that someone could recreate it so well in modern times 😭.

I think it's perfect for a summer drive🚘(Mocchi)

5. "Call On Me"/ RAYE

RAYE is a female singer-songwriter based in London. She has a strong and powerful voice. She is one of the hottest pop singers in the world.

This month's release, "Call On Me," is a bright, EDM-style pop song that feels nostalgic at the same time. (Takkun)

6. "Invitations (feat. Froya & Shohei Miyawaki)" / Tokimeki Records

The new release from Tokimeki Records, a music project that focuses on covers of 80s and 90s city pop, is a cover of "Invitations" by the British fusion band Shakatak. It's a new release from Tokimeki Records, a music project by the British fusion band Shakatak. (Mizuki)

7. "Rumours" / Kings of Convenience

This is a new album by a Norwegian folk duo. I feel as if a friend is giving me advice on life, from the small happiness of everyday life to the slightest thorn in the side of human relationships.

In the midst of a lot of anxiety and impatience, the songs of Kings of Convenience give us room to stop and look at our surroundings. (Yanatatsu)
